Here for You session for youth living in rebuild areas

PHOTO. Here for You Public Information Sessions were launched as part of the ongoing effort to listen to the public's concerns, answer their questions and bring them information on recovery efforts. The next Here for You public information session will focus on staying safe in construction zones as the region gets ready to head into a busy rebuilding period.

The goal of the Recovery Task Force is that the rebuild of the region is completed in a safe, efficient and compliant manner.

If you are rebuilding, live in or near a rebuild neighbourhood, or your child goes to school in a rebuild neighbourhood you wont want to miss the session.

The following construction safety video geared at educating students and children about the steps they can take to stay safe during the rebuild of the community will be shown:

The video was developed in partnership with public educators from the RCMP and Regional Emergency Services, stakeholders from the construction industry, safety experts, and with collaboration from the four local school boards.

“Safety is our priority and we know this is going to be unlike any construction our community has ever seen. The risk of this particular construction season is heightened because so many of our residents already live in these neighbourhoods and go to school there,” said Jeanette Bancarz, Chair of the Wood Buffalo Recovery Committee. “We encourage anyone with children to watch this video together and have a chat about what it means to be aware, be seen, and be safe.”

At the session you’ll also learn about the Construction Management Teams coordinating the rebuild and about zero lot line considerations.

As always, subject matter experts will be on hand to answer other recovery questions and address your concerns.

The session will be at McMurray Experience from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12.
