Summer Camps returning to the region

Scotiabank Mi Summer Camps will be returning to the region this year.

In addition to the camps at MacDonald Island Park, Scotiabank MI Summer Camps will also be available in Anzac at the Anzac Recreation Centre presented by Nexen Energy, a CNOOC Limited company.

The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) made the exciting annoucement on Monday, May 8.

The RRC and Scotiabank will be providing summer camp opportunities for children and youth in the two communities.

“At Scotiabank we are committed to helping young people in our communities reach their infinite potential,” said Denise Unger, District Vice President, Northern Alberta, Scotiabank. “We saw the positive impact that last year’s camps had on all of the young people who attended and we are proud to once again be supporting the MI camps and our leaders of tomorrow.”

The Camps are week-long summer break day camps where kids ages 3-13 explore new skills and build confidence, while making new friends.

Activities include sports, interactive games, golf, swimming and more.

“We are so grateful to Scotiabank for their ongoing partnership and commitment to the families and children of this region,” said Rachel Orser, Interim Chief Executive Officer of the RRC. “With their support, hundreds of children and youth will once again have the opportunity to attend summer camp where they will make new friends, explore the many amenities at MacDonald Island Park and the Anzac Recreation Centre and, most importantly, have fun this summer!”

New this year

In addition to the regular summer camp, there will be a Scotiabank MI Summer Leadership Camp.

It is a two-week day camp program designed for youth ages 13-16 to develop leadership skills through a leadership-in-training program.
