Big change in weather expected for most of the province

A big change in weather is expected in the RMWB throughout the evening on May 23 and into May 24.

According to Environment Canada a strong low pressure system is forecast to develop west of Edmonton near the BC border and then move east-southeast through the province.

The low pressure system will bring heavy rainfall, in the 30 to 40 mm range and 50 to 75 mm in some areas and the possibility of thunderstorms.

Hinton to Grande Prairie and eastward to Edmonton, Cold Lake and Llyodminster is expected to see the heaviest amount of rain.

This system is also expected to bring strong winds, the east-central portion of the province could see gusts up to 100 km/h.
