The Fort McMurray Giants once again held a lead against the Lethbridge Bulls, but for the second straight night, the Bulls (3-0) erased the Giants lead to defeat the Giants (0-2) 5-3 on Saturday evening at Spitz Stadium.

Both Brady Moxham for the Bulls and Tyler Moskalyk for the Giants shut down opposing batters easily through the first three innings.

In the top of the fourth, the Giants scored two runs to take a 2-0 lead thanks to a RBI single by Max Hewitt, followed by an error by the Bulls third-basemen Dylan Borman that led to another run.

The Bulls scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the fifth, but the Giants regained their two-run lead when Keegan Marsden drove in Fort McMurrayite Ryan Dunn in the top of the sixth.

In the bottom half of the sixth, the Bulls put their rally caps on just like one night before and scored three runs to take a 4-3 lead after six.

The Giants were shutout the remaining three innings, while the Bulls scored an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth en route to winning their third straight game to kick off the Western Major Baseball League season.

For the Giants, National Junior Collegiate standout, Max Hewitt continued to impress. Hewitt went 3-4 with a RBI as his average sits at .500 through two games.

Alex Bishop went 2-3 for the Bulls, picking up a RBI, his eighth of the season through just three games.

University of Winnipeg Wesmen alumni Tyler Moskalyk pitched well for the Giants going five innings, allowing just two runs. Reliever Josh Snider ended up getting the loss, while Ben Erwin was awarded the win for the Bulls.

The Bulls and Giants wrap up their three-game set on Sunday afternoon at Spitz Stadium. First pitch is set for 2:05 p.m.

The Giants will then return home, as they get set to welcome the Edmonton Prospects on Tuesday evening.
