The rebuild in our community is in full force a new campaign is giving anyone who’s home was destroyed, or not destroyed in the wildfire, a chance to pick up some free artwork.

The Art from the Heart campaign started by Project Manager and Artist, Penny Lamnek, is based off an initiative that followed the 2011 Slave Lake fire.

Throughout the rebuild artists from across Canada will be sending their artwork to the affected people of our community at no cost.

“Artists know that artwork of any sort is a very positive influence at a home or office,” said Lamnek. “We just want to do something that’s unique to us as artists, to help people with their rebuilding and the healing as well, because I know they suffered an extreme trauma.

If you are an artist or know someone who is and would like to help create a piece for someone, you are more than welcome to at Artist Submissions.

All forms of visual art are welcomed, including paintings, photography, sculpture, wall hangings, pottery, woodwork and stone carvings as long as they are original.

“We have been getting a lot of response, and such nice emails and messages that we are doing this,” said Lamnek.

Over a dozen pieces of artwork are available on Art from the Heart’s website right now and you can check them out at Artwork Gallery.

If you want a piece of art today, you would visit their website and select your top three choices, or you can have Art from the Heart choose the artwork for you. Once your choices are received, they will contact the artists and the artwork will be shipped to you.

“Even if you didn’t lose your home, you can get a piece of artwork,” said Lamnek. The events that happened were highly traumatic for everyone, and we just want to help.”
