George McGuigan will continue to serve as the Fort McMurray Catholic School District’s (FMCSD) Superintendent.

The school board announced yesterday that they have extended McGuigan’s contract an additional four years, until August 2022.

FMCSD Board of Eduaction Chair, Paula Galenzoski, said that McGuigan lives the Core Values of the district and always puts the students first.

“We are pleased to announce the reappointment of George McGuigan as our District Superintendent. Under his leadership of our district will continue providing exceptional Catholic education,” Galenzoski added.

McGuigan said that he is humbled and honoured to have to continue to serve the youth of the community and that being an educator requires a passion and vocation of a life of service.

He was appointed Superintendent in April of 2013.
