Giants fall to Prospects in series finale, back home Friday

The Fort McMurray Giants held a lead into the fifth inning on Wednesday night in Edmonton, but the Prospects staged a comeback to sweep the Giants in a quick two-game series, with a 5-2 win.

The Giants (1-9) opened up the scoring in the top of the third thanks to a RBI single by Max Hewitt that put the Giants up 1-0. In the top of the fifth, the Giants went up one more after Max Hewitt scored on a RBI triple from Keegan Marsden as the Giants led 2-0 after four and a half innings.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Prospects (8-2) came all the way back, and took a lead with a three-run inning, as they led 3-2 after five innings.

With the loss, the Giants remain at the bottom of the Western Division, while the Prospects sit at the top of the West heading into their game on Thursday against Lethbridge with first place on the line.

The Giants are back at home on Friday night at 7:35 p.m. as they take on the Lethbridge Bulls down at Shell Place.
