Two men facing drug and weapon charges after traffic stop

A traffic stop has resulted in two males being arrested and charged with possession of cash, drugs, and weapons.

On June 24, at 12:30 p.m., Wood Buffalo Municipal Traffic Services, along with the Drug Dog Handler team stopped a vehicle that was speeding in the Beacon Hill area of Highway 63.

During the stop, the RCMP seized $15,757 in cash, a semi-automatic rifle with bayonet attached, ammunition, body armour, 5 fentanyl pills, and a small amount of cocaine.

As a result, two men from Fort McMurray have been charged with the following:

Tyrone Ackerman, 28-year-old

Taylor Nardi, 22-year-old

Nardi also had outstanding warrants for assault, and failure to appear in court.

Both Ackerman and Nardi will appear in a Fort McMurray Provincial Courtroom on Wednesday, June 27.
