'You will forever live in this hell:' Victims' loved ones address Saretzky

An Alberta man convicted of killing three people, including a father and his two-year-old daughter, will be sentenced in August.

Derek Saretzky is facing life in prison with the possibility of no chance of parole for 75 years.

He was convicted of three counts of first-degree murder yesterday for killing Terry Blanchette, his daughter Hailey and Hanne Meketech in 2015.

Saretzky heard from family and friends of his three victims at a sentencing hearing Thursday.

He was called an animal and someone who did not deserve forgiveness.

The Crown argued Saretzky had no remorse and killed for the thrill of it.

Saretzky’s lawyer had concerns with some of the Crown’s sentencing submission and will submit a written argument.

The judge is scheduled to sentence Saretzky August 9.
