UPDATE: Man’s body recovered from Gregoire Lake

The body of a man was recovered from Gregoire Lake.

Last Sunday, July 23, the Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a possible drowning, a 35-year-old man was canoeing when it tipped over.

Alberta Fish and Wildlife officers started rescue efforts but the man was not located in or around the canoe.

The search continued until July 27, when they recovered the body.

An autopsy is scheduled in Edmonton, the RCMP says preliminary investigation shows nothing suspicious about this incident.

His name will not be released.

The Southshore Boat Launch and Day Use area have now been re-opened.
