Christina Gordon Public School will be opening its doors on Monday, Aug. 14, at 106 Parsons Creek Drive for registration beginning at 9 a.m.

Last year the school operated at Timberlea Public School due to wildfire construction delays.

It is home to 260 students, up from 155 in the 2016-17 school year.

Principal Rick Thorne, is excited to welcome families.

“Anyone entering the school will feel welcome and will sense right away that it is a place where people are happy to be, and where children are having fun. The school is bright and open with  lots of common space for people to get together and learn. We will be happy to show off our beautiful new school to anyone who wants a tour, but due to registration priorities, would suggest giving us a day, or two,” said Thorne, who has been with the District for nine years.

Christina Gordon will have a few classes set up as Google Classrooms, which will allow teachers to create, distribute and grade assignments digitally.

“Cutting edge technology is evident and all students have access to iPads and Chromebooks. The youngest students are exposed to the most updated technology through coding and Robotics even in our Junior Tech club, along with our Tech and Trades academy for grades 4-6,” said Thorne.

The new school will also have a variety of extracurricular program featuring options for students of all ages.

In the first year there were already more than 20 clubs including everything from athletics to technology to fine arts, games and knitting.

Registration can also be done online.
