Save-On-Foods officially reopened its downtown Fort McMurray store Friday, Aug 11.

Grand reopening celebrations will be taking place all day on Saturday, Aug 12. with fabulous food demos, promotions and specials, and family-friendly activities.

The first 500 customers of the day will receive a free eight-pack of Western Family soda, and for two weeks, one lucky shopper a day will be randomly selected to win their groceries.

The store has been closed since the May 2016 wildfire and evacuation.

Renovations were done to make the store operational after the evacuation and Save-On-Foods opted to completely update the location.

“We are so proud to reopen this store for the great folks of Fort McMurray,” said Save-On-Foods president Darrell Jones.  “It’s been tough to stay closed for so long, but we wanted to come back to downtown Fort McMurray with the best that Save-On-Foods has to offer.  We’re thrilled to have our amazing team members back at this store, and we think our customers will agree that it is better than ever.”

The renovated store now futures:

  • a full and fresh produce department
  • a full-service in-store pharmacy
  • a sushi counter offering fresh, made-in-store sushi
  • a full selection of meat and seafood
  • an expanded bakery and production area, including a line of ice cream cakes.

Located at 8406 Franklin Avenue, the store is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week.
