One of the three mayoral candidates is looking for input on the plastic bag ban.

Don Scott released on Monday a survey that asks residents their opinion on the ban that was put into effect in 2010.

The ban doesn’t allow stores in the region to hand out single-use plastic or paper bags.

“In doing research on this issue I have discovered there is some variance in opinion and evidence as to whether or not reusable shopping bags have a significant beneficial impact on the environment; most critically though I believe this is an issue on which residents of this region should have the opportunity to express their thoughts in terms of continuing to support the bylaw or repealing it,” said Scott.

The survey is two questions and asks whether you support or don’t support the ban and if you are a resident of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.

In the release Scott wrote that he will share the results from the survey in the coming weeks.
