A student from Father Patrick Mercedi High School is being remembered for his multiple roles in the schools community.
Joven Castro, 18, has been identified as the victim of an accidental drowning in the Lac La Biche area on Aug. 19.
The Lac La Biche RCMP said that the man was out on an inflatable raft, when he was seen to jump off, start swimming and following some apparent difficulties, did not resurface.
On Aug. 20 his body was located with an underwater camera.
Father Merc wrote on their Facebook page that Castro’s passing has left with an enormous hole in their hearts, they continued to say that he was the best possible example of Trapper Pride.
A GoFundMe account has been started to help the Castro family with the cost of the funeral.
