WestJet is working to get Canadians out of the path of Hurricane Irma.

A number of planes have been sent on rescue flights to Punta Cana and Puerto Plato.

More will be dispatched tomorrow to Santa Clara, Cayo Coco and Cuba.

The plan is to have all of them land in Toronto, and then passengers will be dispersed from there.

WestJet has implemented flexible change and cancel rules to allow guests to change travel dates without incurring extra fees.

Anyone flying to the affected areas from now to September 11th should check their flight status ahead of time.

Air Transat is also sending planes to get its Canadian customers out of harm’s way.
