Members of the Fort McMurray Fire Department’s FireFit team are competing at the National Championships in Ottawa.

FireFit is a competition, where men and women perform tasks in their bunker gear that are commonly used in emergency situations.

Fort McMurray has a team of ten, with six men and four girls.

Brandon Breitkreuz, a member of the FMFD team, said they’re feeling good and putting up some good times.

“We are defending champions in a few events. The women are defending relay champs and team champs. We (men’s team) are also defending relay champs. Dan Hnatiuk and Fraser O’Neill are the world record holders in X3 relay, so they’re defending their title for the third year in a row,” said Breitkreuz.

Breitkreuz said they’re shooting to do their best and look to represent the city in the best light.
