Voter requirements

With Election Day approaching the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) is reminding you of some requirements to cast your ballot.

To vote you will need to produce one piece of government issued photo I.D. with your current address and name; this includes a driver’s licence or an Alberta Identification Card.

If you are not able to produce government issued photo I.D., you must have two pieces of identification. Both pieces will need to have your full name and one piece needs to have your current address.

In order to vote you must:

  • Have not voted before in this election
  • Be at least 18 years old on Election Day
  • Be a Canadian citizen
  • Have lived in Alberta since Apr. 16, 2017
  • Reside in the Ward for which they are casting a ballot on Election Day
  • Produce proper identification for inspection

Advanced polls will run on select dates in different locations throughout the region from Oct. 7-14.

Election Day is Oct. 16.
