Big Brothers Big Sisters Wood Buffalo was able to surpass their fundraising goal by $5,000 and brought in a grant total of $105,000.00 from the SMS Equipment Wine Auction event.

Brianne Oke, chair of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Wood Buffalo board stated in a press release, “We have not exceeded our fundraising goal since 2012; it is exciting that despite the current economic climate the people of Fort McMurray continue to give back to the community.”

The 8th annual SMS Equipment Wine Auction in support of BBBSWB was on Saturday, Sept.23rd, at Shell Place and was the first time the event was sold out.

“The organization is grateful that the community supports the Big Brothers Big Sisters movement, and with the money raised we will be able to continue to provide quality mentorship programs within our local community, bringing us closer to reaching our vision that “every child who needs a mentor has a mentor,” said Joanne Angel-Andrusiv, the executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters Wood Buffalo.

Each year the Wine Auction raises much-needed funds for the organization.
