VOTE FOR ME: Allan Grandison

PHOTO. Supplied. Allan Grandison, local realtor is seeking nomination to be the next UCP MLA for Fort McMurray - Lac La Biche in the upcoming provincial election.

My name is Allan Grandison, your candidate for Regional Mayor.

I have proudly called this Region home for over 30 years, and my wife Sandy and I have raised our children here.

I have a diverse professional background which uniquely positions me to serve as your Mayor.

I have almost 10 years experience as a Rural Supervisor & Acting Manager at the RMWB which allowed me the opportunity to work closely with council and within the Municipal Government Act (MGA); an Act I understand thoroughly.

I also have considerable experience working with Indigenous people which has allowed me to understand the challenges in maintaining culture, a sense of community and working to establish relationships of trust.

I am Metis. In my previous role as Band Manager, I worked collaboratively with local people and all 3 levels of Government to find real solutions to real problems.

I have extensive experience in the non-profit sector, working within the Child Welfare System and being a strong voice and advocate for children and families.

I introduced Treatment Foster Care Program to our Region; a highly successful program that saw children in need experiencing permanency; some for the first time in their lives.

I have been a realtor for the past 7 years and have an understanding of the challenges facing our business community.

We have some serious issues facing our Region and my key platform issues are:

Fiscal Responsibility in managing current and future debt, dealing with impacts from Bills 21 and 8, ensuring internal and external service delivery is streamlined and cost effective, and ensuring capital projects are reflective of need.

Establishing a ‘Region First Approach’ in partnership with our stakeholders will be critical. Addressing Regional concerns will only be done effectively by repairing our damaged relationship with our biggest financial contributor; industry.

FIFO issues cannot be effectively addressed without an improved relationship.
Working collaboratively with council so they are working together for all citizens.

This includes promoting creative thought, listening respectfully to diverse perspectives and encouraging a safe forum for all to contribute and ensuring all council members are able to serve and represent their respective communities.

Getting back to the mandate of serving you, the residents of this Region, ALL residents.

I have made only one promise during this campaign and that is to continue a servant leadership role for the citizens of this Region. I will hear your voice, I will listen to your voice and I will respond always with your best interests at the forefront.

I am, at my core, a consensus builder, an innovative thinker, a communicator and problem solver. I believe this is the change in our leadership that is needed now and citizens deserve.

This vote is about you, the people of this Region.

It is frankly that simple.
