Alberta Premier Rachel Notley stopped by Calgary to speak to regions and municipalities across the province.

She spoke at the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association’s Convention and Trade Show Thursday, about the importance of getting Alberta crude to tidewater.

This comes following a meeting she had with the Liberal government in Ottawa on Tuesday.

She said it’s time for Ottawa to step up.

“The NEB’s decision to include downstream emissions and evaluating pipeline proposals like it proposed to do with energy east was a historic over reach, something that no other industry in Canada is subject to. It should not, it cannot be allowed to become a prescient that applies to future projects.”

Notely said the liberal government has to help get the Trans Mountain pipeline built now, adding there is no climate change plan without Alberta.

“Alberta sends nearly $22 billion dollars each year more to Ottawa than we receive in return and that’s because of our energy industry.”

Notley adds the federal government cannot do its work for Canadians if they can’t pay for it.
