Phone app helps locate missing loved ones

A phone application to help locate missing loved ones has been created by local man Nick Conway.

Conway says the idea for the app came to him after briefly losing sight of his children at a large event.

O.W.L – Once Was Lost is a real-time, worldwide app, which allows users to create a profile for their dependents, including a photo. If the dependent goes missing, they can indicate their location, the time and initiate an alert.

“If they’re out in a large area or anywhere where they could become separated, then that user can post an alert to all the other users, then each other user receives that alert with a picture.”

There is also a user map which displays other users, allowing for the coordination of a search, communication and hopefully recovery.

The app, which is available for both apple and android devices, depends on its user base. The more people logged into the app, the more people can help local the missing person.
