Santa Claus Parade comes to town December 2

The annual Santa Clause parade will be on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m. on Franklin Avenue.

The annual Santa Claus Parade returns to Fort McMurray on Saturday, Dec. 2.

This year downtown Fort McMurray will be converting into “a candy cane Christmas” thanks to the Municipality, the Wood Buffalo Regional Library, Peter Pond Shopping Mall and the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce.

“Last year saw a record number of floats much to the delight of residents, both young and young at heart. Let’s keep that momentum going,” said Mayor Don Scott. “I’d like to thank the Santa Claus Parade Community Committee for working so hard to make this a great event.”

The Santa Claus Parade Community Committee is hosting additional family-friendly activities, including Breakfast with Santa from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Peter Pond Mall and the Elf Workshop from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Wood Buffalo Regional Library.

The parade will run along Franklin Avenue at 6:30 p.m.

To make way for Santa’s sleigh and reindeer, motorists are reminded of the following road closures on Dec. 2:

These road closure times are approximate and as the parade passes, roads will reopen.

To accommodate these road closures and float staging for the parade, the following transit changes will be in effect from 5:30 to 8:30:
