University, college and trade students can look forward to a break on their tuition for another year.

The province extended its post-secondary tuition freeze to include the 2018 – 2019 school year.

“We think that by making education affordable and accessible to more Albertans, we’ll set Alberta up for success in the future,” said Advanced Education Minister Marlin Schmidt.

According to Schmidt, students will see savings of about $1,500 over four years as a result.

“We know that education is one of the best investments we can make in the people of Alberta and in the diversification of our economy,” he said.

Along with the freeze, Schmidt said the province made a $17 million funding announcement for post-secondary schools, so the schools don’t have to cover the cost.
