Wood Buffalo RCMP were able to charge eight drivers who were impaired by alcohol over the weekend.

As a part of Impaired Driving Month in Alberta, RCMP officers and Alberta Sheriffs participated in a province-wide CheckStop blitz on Dec. 2.

Wood Buffalo RCMP participated in the event by setting up three check points, stopping 400 vehicles.

Additional to the eight impaired charges, Mounties issued four road side suspensions – two for alcohol and two for drugs.

RCMP remind drivers that with the changing weather conditions and the upcoming holidays that driving impaired creates a danger for all road users.
