Ted-Jan Bloemen wins gold in 10,000-metres with Olympic-record time

Calgary speedskater Ted-Jen Bloemen has won the gold medal in the men’s 10,000 metres at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

Bloemen, the world record holder in the distance, posted an Olympic-record time of 12:39.77.

It’s Bloemen’s second medal of the Games after taking silver in the 5,000 metres beind Sven Kramer of the Netherlands on Tuesday.

Dutchman Jorrit Bergsma, the 10k winner in 2014, took silver and Italy’s Nicolo Tumolero the bronze.

Toronto’s Jordan Belchos finished fifth with a career-best time of 12:59.51.
