Tany Yao, current United Conservative MLA for Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo has been nominated as the United Conservative candidate for the region in the upcoming 2019 provincial election.

When door-knocking during the first week of campaigning Yao said he heard most of his constituents voice concerns over the economy and jobs.

He says he’ll work on building confidence in Industries to make them want to invest in our oilsands.

“It’s amazing what things like  a change in government can do to change that confidence, said Yao, “It’s about our policies, and our efforts to engages our federal government to ensure those pipelines get built.”

Yao was first elected as MLA in 2015 and also serves as a health critic for the United Conservatives.

He told MyMcMurray he wanted to seek re-election to continuing being an advocate for the region.

“We need some more support in our health system, we need to get our Industry on track and build confidence with international companies to come back to our region and work in our oilsands,” said Yao.

United Conservative Leader Jason Kenney issued the following statement.

“Over the past three years, Tany has effectively held this NDP government to account on its mismanagement of Alberta’s health care system – one of the most costly and inefficient systems in the country.  I am pleased to know that we will continue to benefit from this experience as we prepare to fight the 2019 election.”

Yao hopes to be able to continue supporting our community.
