Balsom Communication Inc., producers of Your McMurray Magazine, will be launching a new family focused publication, YMM Parent.
It will highlight resources and services offered for parents in the community with the first bi-annual edition to launch this fall with the 2019 spring/summer edition to follow.
Krista Balsom, owner of Balsom Communications Inc. stated in a press release that the idea to public YMM Parent has been in the works for several months.
“Fort McMurray is a vibrant community with a lot of young families. We want to expand our network and our reach within the community and we thought this was the perfect way,” said Balsom.
The editor of the new publication will be local, long time print news editor, Dawn Booth. Booth has working in print media in our community for 10 years.
“She is connected to the community, but more importantly is a mom herself to three beautiful children,” Balsom said. “Dawn understands what it is to having a fully active and engaged family in our region and we want to share her experience, knowledge and connections with all of you.”
Booth previously worked for the Connect Weekly newspaper, which discontinued in December 2016 after a shortfall on limited staff.
“I’m excited for this new venture because I really love our community, and this opportunity will allow me to balance my home life, while writing about our community’s home life,” said Booth.
YMM Parent will feature the YMM Parents Resource Guide, which will provide families with information many resources in our community such as childcare, physicians, education institutions.
The publication will be available both in print and online so parents can access the information whenever and wherever.
