Habitat for humanity will be hosting two events to raise money for their affordable home ownership program and operations within our community.

On Saturday, May 19, six teams will compete to build the best playhouse in the 2018 Habitat for Humanity Playhouse Build-off.

The finished products will be auctioned off during the Habitat Builder’s Ball on Saturday, June 2, with all proceeds going towards Habitat for Humanity.

Crystal Lewis-Wilton, executive director of Habitat for Humanity Wood Buffalo, told MyMcMurray that they are hoping to raise around $45,000.

“With the wildfire, we did get involved in the rebuild process, so this is a way for us to get out there to raise money to support the operations in the community, to be able to ensure we can continue to support the rebuild effort and affordable homeownership in our community as well,” said Lewis-Wilton.

More information about both events can be found on Habitat for Humanity Wood Buffalo Facebook page.
