The Cinco de Mayo fundraiser brought in $221,000 for the Local Helicopter Emergency Response Operations (H.E.R.O.) Foundation. The proceeds will be used to help fund emergency response helicopter operations in the region.

Paul Spring, board chair of the foundation was very pleased by the success of the event.

“We had a target to try to raise 100 hours of life saving flights and we managed to do that with generous support,” said Spring.  “We’re really happy Fort McMurray supported it.  We’re getting our name out there and we’re getting recognized for the medevac service we’ve been providing since the 80s.”

Spring told MyMcMurray that they will start planning their third fundraiser event for next year.
