The Centre of Hope is shedding some light on homelessness throughout the region.

From 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on June 16 and 17th, they’re asking you to give up your bed and sleep in the rough for one night with their annual “Hope in the Dark” fundraiser.

While the event is serious in nature, there will be food, presentations, live music, movies, face painting and adult and child sized inflatables.

“This event is going to be a fantastic evening for you and your family. Whether you coming to enjoy all our activities, or spending the night outside, we hope that you will gain a stronger perspective on what it is like to live in homelessness in this region,” the Centre of Hope wrote in a press release.

The money raised this year will be going to the organizations Intake and Outreach programs.

Registration is now open for the event.

For a family to participate and sleep in the rough it is $25.

For organizations, businesses or special groups it is by pledges, which are:

  • $50.00 you get to sleep with cardboard!
  • $75.00 you get to sleep with self-made shelter
  • $100.00 you get to sleep with a pillow & sleeping a bag
  • $165.00 and over you get to sleep with a tent.

You’re asked to bring your own sleeping bags and tarps.
