Construction to start on Fort Chip’s final placemaking project

Construction on Fort Chipewyan’s final placemaking project is to begin this summer.
The project is a community gathering space where residents will be able to celebrate, reflect and enjoy the region.
“This placemaking project will capture and celebrate what makes this community so unique,” said Marc Fortais, Senior Manager Public Works and Transit Services.

Residents were asked to provide input earlier this spring about the location of the project.
Over 70 people weighed in and 42 per cent of voters wanted it placed at the lakefront in Dog Head (option ‘c’ in the map above).
The washroom will also be moved back on to the original concrete pad by the playground.
