Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta is continuing their scholarship program for a sixth year in conjunction with the Women of Inspiration series, presented by Syncrude. Applications for three scholarships, valued at $3000 each, are now open to female post-secondary students from the region.
Of the three scholarships, two have been named after former Women of Inspiration. The Barb Jewers Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to an applicant for their commitment to volunteerism and community activism and the Elsie Yanik Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to an applicant with First Nations or Métis ancestry.
Winners of the scholarships will be chosen based on financial need, academic achievement and extracurricular and community involvement. They must also have lived in the region for at least one year, be registered as a full time student and provide proof of acceptance into an accredited postsecondary institution.
The deadline to apply is July 16 at 4 p.m.
