Three men arrested; multiple guns seized in Fort McMurray and Edmonton

Three men are facing firearm offences for their alleged involvement in organized crime. ALERT says they seized eight firearms-including assault rifles, suppressors and over-capacity magazines in Fort McMurray and Edmonton.

Brothers and one of their associates are facing numerous firearm offences following an investigation about their alleged involvement in organized crime.

ALERT seized eight firearms-including assault rifles, suppressors and over-capacity magazines in Fort McMurray and Edmonton.

Alexander and Ryan Kurkut were arrested on May 18 and are facing 38 charges, including firearm offences as well as possession of forged identity documents.

The investigation resulted in ALERT recovering the following items from their home in southwest Edmonton and a storage facility:

 

Both brothers have lifetime firearms prohibitions.

Nicolas Moores, 26, an alleged associate of the brothers was arrested in Fort McMurray and is facing 23 charges related to guns.

At the time of his arrest, he had a loaded handgun tucked into his waistband.
