Colleagues of Councillor Jane Stroud announced Tuesday that they endorse her candidacy as MLA for Fort McMurray-Conklin.

In a joint written statement councillors Bruce Inglis, Claris Voyageur and Sheila Lalonde said that Stroud is the right voice for the riding.

Inglis referred to Stroud as “a fierce advocate” for our region at Tuesday’s announcement.

“There’s too much to risk to elect anyone without a background in getting things done in Fort McMurray and the entire region. It is important that we elect an MLA who knows and understands all of our communities and Jane has stood up on behalf of all RMWB residents.”

In the written statement Stroud’s colleagues refer to her eight years on council and the work she’s done for businesses and rural communities.

Stroud said that the work that the province has invested in the region inspired her to run.

The by-election is on July 12.
