Voters head to the polls on Thursday

Voters who live in the Fort McMurray-Conklin provincial riding will head to the polls on Thursday.

If you liveĀ in the following neighbourhoods you are eligible to vote:

  • Wood Buffalo
  • Thickwood (South of Thickwood Boulevard)
  • Abasand/ Grayling Terrace
  • Beacon Hill
  • Waterways/ Draper
  • Gregoire
  • Saprae/ Prairie Creek
  • All rural communities

 

There are five individuals hoping to earn your vote.

Laila Goodridge– United Conservative Party

Goodridge was born and raised in Fort McMurray and said she has worked political campaigns in town for over 15 years.

Jane Stroud– New Democrat Party

Stroud is currently the ward 4 councillor, she was first elected in 2010. She has taken a step away from the horseshoe to focus on her campaign.

Sid Fayad– Alberta Party

Fayad is a local business owner with no previous political experience but believes he’d be best suited for the job because of his ties to the community.

Brian Deheer– Green Party

Deheer lives in Lac La Biche, he is a former Deputy Leader of the Green Party of Alberta and has been a federal candidate for the Green Party of Canada.

Robin LeFevre– Liberal Party

LeFevre lives in Edmonton and he previously ran in the Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo riding in the 2015 provincial election.

Polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
