SUV strikes 6-year-old boy in Fort McKay

Police responded to reports of a vehicle colliding with a child on their bike around 8:30 Wednesday night. The boy sustained serious injuries and was air lifted to an Edmonton hospital, where he is stable.

The Wood Buffalo RCMP are investigating after a vehicle collided with a child riding their bike in Fort McKay.

The RCMP said around 8:30 Wednesday night a GMC Terrain had struck a 6 year old on a bicycle at an uncontrolled intersection.

Officers believe that the vehicle was travelling southbound and the boy was heading east near the intersection of the 400 block and Target Road in Fort McKay.

The young boy sustained serious injuries and was air lifted to an Edmonton area hospital where he is currently stable.

The driver of the SUV, a 78-year-old woman, was brought to the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre.
