Maggie Farrington named Chair of the Board of Governors at Keyano College

Maggie Farrington will serve as the new chair for Keyano College’s Board of Governors for the next three years.

Farrington was selected after an open recruitment process, Minister of Advanced Education, Marlin Schmidt said her extensive leadership experience makes her the right person for the job.

“I’m confident she will serve the best interests of students, staff and faculty. I look forward to seeing Keyano College grow and prosper under her leadership and guidance.

Farrington is the CEO of the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation, an advocate within the Indigenous community and a former criminal litigator.

Her leadership experience further includes being named chair of the Wood Buffalo Housing board of directors and previously serving as vice-chair of the Wood Buffalo Wildfire Recovery Committee and director of Aboriginal and Rural Relations for the RMWB.

“I believe that Keyano College plays an important role, not only in Fort McMurray, but in the region as a whole. I look forward to working with my fellow board members to help Keyano College move toward a bright future,” said Farrington.
