Two facing drug and identity fraud charges

A man and woman are facing charges of drug possession and identity fraud.

The Wood Buffalo RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) was patrolling a downtown neighbourhood near Franklin Ave. and Haineault St., in the evening on July 13 when they observed a woman in a vehicle with outstanding warrants. Tara Arthurs was taken into custody.

During her arrest officers found suspected cocaine and arrested the other occupant of the vehicle, Jayden McInroy.

The RCMP said this prompted further investigation that found both Arthurs and McInroy were in possession of stolen Social Insurance Number cards and Drivers Licences, one of which had been attempted to be used just prior to police contact.

Arthurs faces charges of:

  • Possession of stolen property x 2
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Unlawfully possess an identity document belonging to another person x 3
  • The outstanding warrants included uttering forged documents, and fraud x 2.

 

McInroy is charged with:

  • Possession of stolen property x 3
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Fraudulently personate another individual
  • Identity fraud
  • Utter a forged document
  • Demand goods using a forged document
  • Unlawfully possess an identity document belonging to another person x 4
  • Breach of recognizance entered into before a Justice x 4

 

Arthurs and McInroy remain in police custody, Arthurs appears in court on July 30th and McInroy appears on Aug. 13.
