Environment Canada has issued a special air quality statement for the RMWB as smoke from northern B.C. and the Yukon has drifted into the region.

Lynn Daina, wildfire information officer, gave MyMcMurray an update on the wildfires burning in our region.

There is one just north of Net Lake in the Richardson back country. She notes that it is fairly small at 8 hectares, and it is classified as under control with a helicopter and a crew working on it.

A second one is located 35 kilometers west of Fort McKay, it is 31 hectares and is also now classified as being held with four helicopters and three crews working on it.

You can download the new Alberta Fire Bans app on your cell phone to stay on top of fire bans and restrictions.
