Trevor Powder was found guilty of second degree murder on Friday, Sept. 14, 2018.

Powder, 23, was originally charged with first degree murder for the 2015 death of Tyler McDermid.

He is now facing a life sentence with a chance of parole after anywhere between 10 to 25 years.

Defence lawyer Darin Sprake also requested a Gladue report, which is a pre-sentencing or bail report that can be utilized when sentencing an Indigenous offender.

The parole hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2018.
