Former Fort McMurray Oil Baron raising mental health awareness with own clothing brand

Jaret Smith, former forward for the Fort McMurray Oil Barons, has started his own clothing line to raise awareness for mental health.

Unparalled Premium Wear is a line of hats with a portion of their monthly sales donated towards the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Smith, 24, got the idea for the project while attending university at Nipissing University in North Bay Ontario.

After battling depression himself, seeing friends go through it and losing a friend to mental health reasons, Smith was inspired to get rid of the stigma attached to mental health.

“The hats are not your average hat, they have some good qualities to them,” said Smith. “You can definitely step up your style game with an Unparalled hat.”

Hats can be purchase on their online retail store and Smith tells MyMcMurray they will be hitting the shelves soon.
