A potentially harmful portable nuclear gauge was reported stolen from a vehicle near Biggs Ave. and Nixon St.

Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to the report on Oct. 12 around 2:27 p.m.

Police say if the device is manipulated it could be harmful because it contains radioactive substances used to test density and moisture in the ground.

The device was stored in a yellow case identified with a radioactive sign.

If you find the case or the device you’re asked not to touch either of them and to immediately call police.

Anyone with information about the location of the gauge is asked to call RCMP at 780-788-4040 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
