The future of the Anzac Community Centre is up for discussion at a special council meeting Saturday.
Originally the one-storey building was to see an extensive renovation, but when contractors started renovations on Jan. 11, 2018 they found black mould.
The area was sealed to prevent the mould from spreading and renovations were officially cancelled on Sept. 6, 2018 after being on hold for six months.
Four options were reviewed by municipal administration and the community:
Continue with renovation of the hall
Demolish the building and rebuild
Demolish the building and sell the land for a nominal fee to the community
Demolish building and relocate community groups to Anzac Recreation Centre
The community indicated at a public engagement session on Oct. 15, 2018, that they prefer the second option of demolishing and rebuilding.
People representing the Anzac Recreation & Social Society and the Anzac Recreation Centre will make presentations along with others at the meeting.
Earlier in the day council is expected to visit the Conklin Multiplex for its grand opening celebration and the Anzac Fire Hall for a ribbon cutting and barbecue.
