The brand new Landmark Cinemas in Eagle Ridge is transforming the movie experience in Fort McMurray.

Gone are the days of the colourful tacky carpets, welcome beautiful tiled floors, big, bright white walls that highlight classic movies bringing back fond memories and making you all the more excited to catch the latest flick.

The upscale, state of the art theatre boasts eight auditoriums with 877 fully reclining seats.

James Mason, vice president of operations for Landmark Cinemas, told MyMcMurray that the theatre was built for movie lovers.

“With the recliners, reserve, recline relax is such a great way to connect the guests, with the overall experience we are offering,” said Mason. “With the big screen, with the big sound, you have an incredible comfortable seat, fully reclined.  There’s no better way to experience a movie than sitting in an atrium full of friends and strangers and enjoying the movie experience together.”

Adding to the experience is the concession stand, a one stop show for dinner and a movie in Fort McMurray.  You can get a beverage from one of the five Coca-Cola Freestyle machines feature touchscreen technology that let you create your custom drink with 150 options on demand.  Your drink will be needed to wash down your classic, favourite snacks with some new treats.

“Popcorn and Coca-Cola is always synonymous with movie going,” said Mason. “Within this location you’ll have the same traditional concession offerings that the previous location had and we’ve introduced personal pizzas, fresh, hand rolled pretzels, pretzel bites, pretzel dogs, frozen yogurt, Mrs. Fields cookies and coffee.”

There is also a room that can be booked to host birthday parties and other events right inside the theatre.

Your seat can be reserved with the purchase of your ticket that can be done online, through the Atom app, or at the box office, which opens half an hour before the first showing.
