LOS ANGELES — Marvin Levy is one of the most respected publicists working in Hollywood and this Sunday he’ll become the first ever in his branch to receive an honorary Oscar statuette.

Levy is among this year’s esteemed Governors Awards honorees, who are chosen annually by the board of governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He’ll be accepting his statuette at a glitzy ceremony in Hollywood alongside actress Cicely Tyson and composer Lalo Schifrin.

Levy has over a half century experience in the business, but his most fruitful partnership has been with Steven Spielberg who he has worked with ever since 1977’s “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.”

He says getting an Oscar was something he couldn’t have even imagined.
