The Salvation Army’s annual Christmas Kettle Campaign kicked off on Saturday, Nov. 17 with a $200,000 campaign goal.

“The Kettle Campaign is a very important to the work of The Salvation Army,” said Major Stephen Hibbs, Corps Officer for The Salvation Army in Fort McMurray, in a press release. “All Kettle donations stay in this community to support our year-round programs to restore hope, and to help, any person who needs us.”

There are 11 programs including an emergency shelter, Christmas assistance, food programs, counselling, job search assistance, and much more.

The Salvation Army is also welcoming volunteers to help staff the kettles between Nov. 17 and Dec. 24. If you are interested in signing up for a two-hour shift call 587-646-0981.
