Fort Chipewyan RCMP seize drugs at local airport

Fort Chipewyan RCMP have stop illegal drugs from entering the community after attending to the local airport on Nov. 20, 2018 and intercepting an adult female who was carrying 468 grams of cannabis, 4 grams of suspected heroin and 24 grams of shatter.

“This seizure is a great example of our crime reduction initiative. Using an intelligence-led policing approach, our members removed drugs from the community,” says Sergeant Cal Barter, Detachment Commander at Fort Chipewyan Detachment.

As a result Lisa Wanderingspirit, a 40-year-old resident of Fort Chipewyan was arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of unlawfully distribution and possession of a controlled substance.

She is to appear in Fort Chipewyan Provincial Court on Jan. 3, 2018.
