New website designed to attract people to call RMWB home

In an effort to attract people to live in the region, the Chamber of Commerce has launched a new website, Live YMM.

A labour market study showed employers were having a hard time attracting workers to the region and the chamber is hoping the website will help fix that.

Alexis Foster, executive director of the Chamber says the idea is to cover aspects and perks of living in the region.

“It’s got housing, relocation, education, childcare, there’s newcomer services, they got the top jobs,” said Foster. “Its live work and play.”

The website highlights local businesses such as Fort McMurray Tourism and has a number of videos from different employees in various fields in the region highlighting why they moved to the RMWB and chose to make it their home.

“It gives the real personal side of Fort McMurray and the Wood Buffalo region, its something we really like and think is going to be a bit more of a powerful tool to bring more people into the region,” said Foster.

Right now the website acts as more of an attraction and retention tool and plans on expanding to incorporate a job search tool.

“There is information on why you should work here, what amenities we have because tourism is about coming to visit, this is about getting people to come and stay,” said Foster.
