The Wood Buffalo Food Bank’s annual Syncrude Food Bank Drive is around the corner.

Anna Noble, Volunteer Coordinator with WBFB told MyMcMurray how vital this food drive is.

“This food drive actually raises 40 per cent of our annual donations that come in during the year,” said Noble. “So it’s pretty important in stocking those shelves.”

Trucks provided by H. Wilson Industries will be parked at local grocery stores and Walmart from Nov. 30 to Dec. 2.

Volunteers will be in place at various stores in the region accepting food, gift card and cash donations on Nov. 30 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Dec. 2 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Two-hour volunteer shifts are available over the weekend to hand out shopping lists and collect donations.

Volunteers are also needed in the warehouse to help sort and put away food as it comes in.

The annual food drive brings in 40 per cent of the food bank’s annual stock and more than 30 per cent of their annual operating budget.
