The Rural Water and Sewage Servicing (RWSS) Project will be moving along after Council gave administration the go ahead to conduct lot by lot assessments in Anzac, Conklin, Draper, Gregoire Lake Estates, Janvier and Saprae Creek Estates.
This is one of the costliest projects undertaken by the Municipality with a budget of $306 million. After the council meeting on June 12, 2018 administration met with the rural residents to discuss the price tags.
Through the assessments administration will be able to decide on an appropriate fee for rural residents to pay for the connection, how they can pay the fees, how long they can be hooked up and how exactly the work will be done and by who.
A long-term payment option will be available with Residents of Saprae Creek looking at paying an estimated $10,000 for their connection fee and all other communities possibly having to pay $16,000.
After the assessments administration will then provide a plan and funding request for on-site service connections to council before the 2020 budget workshops.
Then work can being with the first step in the project building the force mains, lift stations and infrastructure needed to provide piped water and sewer systems.
The next step is to connect infrastructure from lot lines to residential homes, completing the on-site service connections.
The project is expected to be completed by November 2020 for all communities expect for Conklin, which will be completed the following year.
